Cricket Carnival Begins.....

Come March 11 and the world's biggest cricket carnival will begin to the sound of the Caribbean's calypso beats. It will take 49 days to decide the winner of cricket's ninth World Cup which is being staged for the first time in nine nations clustered in the Caribbean Sea.

  • Jamaica
  • Antigua & Barbuda
  • St. Kitts & Nevis
  • St. Lucia
  • Barbados
  • Grenada
  • Trinidad & Tobago
  • Guyana
  • St. Vincent
Of the nine, only St. Vincent will not stage a World Cup game, merely some warm-up matches.

In keeping with the West Indian way of life, the mascot for the 2007 World Cup is neither an animal nor a person. But rather it is a mood, and an attitude.

The mascot is most appropriately called Mello. The official World Cup theme is The Game of Love And Unity which has been recorded by the trio of Jamaican-born Shaggy, the Barbadian Rupee and Trinidadian Faye-Ann Lyon

The mascot should have been named Anto instead of Mello, looks a lot like him.
