200 of the Europe's best groomed beards and mustaches went on display at the International German Beard Championship in the southern German village of Schoemberg on March 24, 2007.
Some of the whiskers were extravagant, some elaborately-groomed and flashy and others were plain wild and wacky. The competition had sixteen categories of beards, the most popular one being freestyle because it sets no limits on creativity. There were bushy windmills, gelled chin beards, Chinese drooping mustaches, whiskers and styled full beards.
The Germans are renowned for being the among world's best beard growers
